All of the essential features that anglers look for in eging rods have been further refined in the all-new Sephia SS series. Built with Spiral X technology, the second generation of Sephia SS rods are lighter, shedding an average of 14g for a 13% weight reduction across the range. Despite their lightweight design, these rods remain highly resistant to twisting. Like a whip, the rods allow egis to dart sharply underwater with minimal effort from the angler. Incorporating Taftec α technology and a Perfection Seat CI4+, this 13-model lineup is equipped to handle any shore eging scenario.
The 23 Sephia SS rods feature blanks built with Spiral X technology, offering enhanced torsional and crushing rigidity, while High Power X further reduces twisting. This design boosts the jerking action, the core function of any true eging rod. Thoughtfully crafted for both grip and design, these rods provide a more comfortable egging experience. Equipped with the Perfection Seat, the reel seat delivers excellent holding power, is lightweight, and highly sensitive, allowing anglers to better detect lure movement, current conditions, and subtle bites underwater.

Features & Technology:
- SPIRAL X - Through its exclusive lightweight structure, Shimano's patented Spiral X construction enhances catching power for anglers. Spiral X construction consists of three layers: a middle layer of vertical fibers as well as inner and outer layers, both comprised of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions. By using this carbon tape in place of a conventional horizontal fiber sheet, Spiral X achieves enhanced compression rigidity and increased torsional rigidity without adding extra weight. This in turn facilitates instant power transmission for precise casting and fish fighting.
- HI-POWER X - Hi-Power X construction uses diagonally-wrapped carbon tape to form an array of "X" shapes on the rod blank's outermost layer. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species. This manufacturing process allows Shimano to adjust these wraps during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction delivers sharp and crisp rod control for the angler.
- SOFTUBE TOP - Shimano SOFTUBE TOP provides the sensitivity of an ultra fine solid carbon tip with the lightness of a hollow/tubular construction. SOFTUBE TOP construction can be found on rods where sensitivity and finesse are both important requirements. The smooth, seamless action of SOFTUBE TOP offers the angler an unrivalled experience for bite detection and fish-playing performance.
- TAFTEC ALPHA - SHIMANO’s TAFTEC α is a unique solid tip that realizes flexibility and delicate bending without reducing the diameter of the tip or its strength. The TAFTEC α tip is used throughout the Shimano rod range where sensitivity is an important requirement of the rods.
- CI4+ REINFORCED - CI4 is a Shimano original material reinforced with carbon fiber that is lighter and has a higher strength than conventional resin material. CI4+ is an advanced version of the original CI4 material and is 2.5x more rigid than its predecessor. While improving lightness and rigidity, reel bodies, rotors and reel seats built with CI4+ are further reduced in size and weight.
- T45 High Modulus Carbon
