The Wildfish fly selection packs from JM Gillies are real eye catchers and sure fire winners for those new to fly fishing and even for some who might be not so new to the sport. It’s a very versatile selection that’s been put together by Peter Morse.
Bead head nymphs are best suited to faster water where you need them to sink quickly—fish them beneath an indicator to reach the strike zone. Target turbulent pocket water around boulders and drift a heavier nymph through deeper runs and holes. Patterns such as the Sparkle Dun and Bird’s Nest shine during mayfly hatches. Lightly weighted nymphs are ideal for slower-moving water and lakes, while scuds should be worked slowly along the bottom in stillwater. For larger river systems, Bitch Creek and Kaufman’s Stone are proven options that consistently produce results.
