The SLX BFS, available in both right- and left-hand retrieves, marks a new chapter in the SLX baitcaster legacy—now finely tuned for bait finesse system (BFS) enthusiasts. Built to handle ultralight presentations with precision, this reel is engineered to cast the lightest lures effortlessly and with pinpoint accuracy.
Its redesigned, ultra-light and super-shallow duralumin spool enables low-trajectory casting, ideal for delivering finesse lures into tight cover or narrow pockets. The refined FTB (Finesse Tune Brake) system combines centrifugal and magnetic braking to minimise backlash, delivering smooth, repeatable casting whether long or short.
Constructed around a rigid yet lightweight HAGANE Body for superior strength and control, and equipped with a durable Carbon Cross Washer drag system with an audible clicker, the SLX BFS is built for both saltwater and freshwater finesse fishing.

- X SHIP
X SHIP provides improved gear performance. Large diameter drive gear, optimally positioned pinion gear and drive gear, and two points bearings supported pinion gear produce light reeling under load.
- HAGANE BODY
The use of lightweight and rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium firmly suppresses deflection, distortion, and torsion of the reel. This protects delicate gear meshing and enables smooth reeling.
- FTB
Shimano developed the Finesse Tune Brake (FTB) to improves casting performance of lightweight lures by eliminating the brake unit from the spool. This revolutionary design further reduces weight beyond traditional spool-porting designs that keep the brake unit attached. When the spool rotation speed increases, these magnets move outward to the spool closer.The backlash is prevented from the increased Brake power.

- S3D

- S A-RB
S A-RB bearings are put through the same process as Shimano’s A-RB bearings but feature shields on both sides of the bearings. These shields reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the rotation of the bearing.
- SUPER FREE SPOOL
SUPER FREE SPOOL reduces friction on the spool shaft during the cast and enhances casting performance.
