Bream: best bait - yabbies, worms, fish flesh, mullet gut and pilchard. Bream usually inhabit rough snaggy areas, 2m to 6m in depth. They feed together in schools, usually around areas which give them protection, such as sunken logs, oyster bases, eroded banks or at the base of rock walls.
Flathead: best baits - strips of fish flesh, half pilchards and peeled prawns. Dusky flathead are an esturine species best caught at dawn or duck with a dead low tide right on dark the best. They migrate down to near the mouths of estuaries and along gutters of adjacent beaches during Dec-Apr. Southen Blue Spot Flathead are an inshore coastal species found on calm rockys shorelines and beaches. Best caught on dead low tide around broken bottom, patchy sand or reef edges. They're most common in the cooler months from Apr-Aug
