Gamakatsu's O'Shaughnessy hook is a heavy duty hook with straight point and shank length greatly favoured in southern states for surf fishing for salmon and tailor. Popular in larger sizes for large cut baits, and in smaller sizes makes a very good general purpose estuary hook. It boasts impressive strength and features a straight shank with a non-offset design, making it ideal for saltwater fishing, especially from the surf, rocks, or a boat using cut baits. Additionally, the O'Shaughnessy pattern is frequently used for tying saltwater flies.
