Australia's need for lightweight yet rugged heavy-duty spinning reels stands as a unique challenge, and Daiwa has undertaken the task of revamping the KIX series of spinning reels to address this demand.

Now, with the inclusion of AIRDRIVE Design, the KIX series has undergone enhancements to its rotor and bail arm to not only shed weight but also reduce the winding resistance, resulting in a smoother handle turn. The 23 KIX also incorporates essential DAIWA technologies like MAGSEAL to provide added protection to the reel's inner components. Specifically designed and engineered for the Australian market, the 23 KIX seamlessly aligns with the preferences and demands of modern Australian anglers.

• AIRDRIVE DESIGN - Daiwa’s new Airdrive Design, a four pillar (Airdrive Rotor, Airdrive Bail, Airdrive Spool, and Airdrive Shaft) design concept that reduces weight, and enhances rotational smoothness and responsiveness to create a reel that is next level in both form and function.

• MAGSEALED BODY - Ultimate protection is delivered to the engine room of the reel with a magnetised oil seal located on the main shaft of the reel’s rotor shutting the door to the elements and unwanted intruders. Dust, water, and salt intrusion into the inner workings of a reel are a thing of the past with MagSeal.

• METAL ALLOY BODY - Rock solid in strength and performance, alloy is tailor made for Australian conditions and allows a reel to be created that is light, yet strong, and supremely rigid and highly corrosion resistant.

• TOUGH DIGIGEAR - A further evolution of its predecessor Digigear, Tough Digigear is our brand new digitally designed, machine cut gearing system that ensures ultimate gear precision, rotational smoothness, and strength.

• ABS-LONGCAST - Compared to conventional spools, the LC-ABS has been shown to increase the average flight distance by approx. 5% due to its reduced weight and modified shape.

• AIR-ROTOR - A further evolution of its predecessor Digigear, Tough Digigear is our brand new digitally designed, machine cut gearing system that ensures ultimate gear precision, rotational smoothness, and strength.

• AUTOMATIC TOURNAMENT DRAG - Daiwa’s Automatic Tournament Drag uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest, yet becomes more viscous immediately after drag start up. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia and combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag System results in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.

• CORROSION RESISTANT BALL BEARINGS - Lasting 12 times longer than standard stainless steel bearings Daiwa’s CRBBs feature specially treated stainless steel, and a protective shield on the bearing race that seals out sand, fine grit, salt crystals and other abrasives. The result is a longer lasting bearing that’s protected from the corrosive elements that destroy traditional bearings.
